We opened in 1990 and since then we receive every year around 500 students from all over the world.
Our school is located on la Calle Arenal (Arenal Road) and is in the heart of the city, two minutes from the Puerta del Sol, known as "kilometer 0" of Spain.
The main part of the school is on the top floor and has excellent views. From here one can watch the comings and goings of Madrid life and it provides the necessary tranquility required for studying.
From our roof terraces one can see the Plaza Mayor, the Palacio Real, the Plaza de España and the roofs of the historical part of city. More than 300m2, distributed on 7 classrooms, a cafeteria, a video room and two splendid terraces providing space for students from all over the world to mix and chat or sunbath!
Our centre is open all year round except the last week of December and the first week of January.
The school facilities include television, video and e-mail services. There is also a rest-room with a vending machine selling refreshments such as sodas, coffee and tea.
This course consists of two lessons of 45 minutes a day Grammar class, seven and a half hours a week (Monday to Friday). Classes take place daily from 10:45 to 12:15. It is
This course consists of four lessons of 45 minutes a day, 15 hours a week (Monday to Friday). It is possible to choose between classes of Vocabulary and Grammar (from 09:00 to 12:15), or classes of Grammar and Conversation (from 10:15 to 14:00) with a break of 15 minutes. For beginners the first option is recommended.
This course consists of the four lessons a day of the Standard course plus 2 more lessons of Spanish for business. These additional lessons will dedicate special attention to the redaction of Commercial letters, communication in the company, specialized Vocabulary in Economy, Commerce, etc.
This course offers six lessons of 45 minutes a day, 22,5 hours a week (Monday to Friday). The normal time of this course is 09:00 to 14:30, with two breaks of 30 minutes. Combinations are possible between the standard and plus courses. For example, students could begin with the intensive course for a week and then continue with the Standard.
This is the most suitable method and to learn the maximum Spanish in the least time possible. The student decides the intensity and chooses the number of lessons depending on personal effort and dedication. The content of these lessons is tailored to the students needs. Private classes can always be taken in combination with group courses. For example, students can combine the standard course with a couple of hours of private tuition.
Generally these are designed for people who live, work or study in Madrid and have a special timetable. The course begins when there are more than three students at the same level. The time of classes is from 18:30 to 20:30 two days a week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday).
The D.E.L.E. examinations (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) are the official diplomas of Spanish as a foreign language as recognized by the Spanish minister of Education and by the Institute of Cervantes in corporation with the University of Salamanca. This certificate is recognized and accredited internationally.
As a member of the A.E.E.E.M. (Asociación de Escuelas de Español de Madrid) and F.E.D.E.L.E. (Federacion Nacional de escuelas de espanol como lengua extranjera), Academia Madrid PLUS is capable of preparing students for these examinations. Teachers working at the school are qualified to prepare D.E.L.E.. Every year we have a pass rate of 95% approximately.
Apartments sharing with fellow students
One can choose between double and single rooms.Apartments are self catering, fully furnished and on a single floor. They have two or three bedrooms, individuals and doubles, bathrooms, and an equiped kitchen. The apartments house between 2 and 16 students. The students share all amenities. Towels are not provided and have to be brought by the student. Some apartments are only 5 minutes away on foot others some 15 mintues by metro.
Spanish families
The host families we select have much experience in providing hospitality to students. Almost all our families live between 15 and 20 minutes by metro from the school.
For completing our method of direct learning, the families only speak Spanish.
Some families have children and all offer breakfast or halfboard, (breakfast and lunch or evening meal) with single rooms. Living with a Spanish family increases the participation in day to day Spanish life, food and culture..
Hostals
If preferred, the Academia Madrid PLUS also offers you the option of Hostel accommodation. The hostels are very close to the school and have en-suite bathrooms. There is a choice between single and double rooms. Please note that the hostals only accept two people in the double rooms.Please note that we only accept bookings of double rooms for two people travelling together.
There are individual and double rooms available in apartments and hostals and individuals in families. Double rooms reservatios are only accepted for two people.

University residence
Madrid Plus works since several years with a very nice residence for students, placed only 20 minutes walking distance from our school. The atmosphere is quite familiar. There are double rooms, as well as individual ones. Half board and full board are offered. Bathrooms and shower rooms are placed in the corridors and they are shared every two or three rooms. Laundry service once a week is included in the price. Other services of the residence: free internet access, library, TV room, leisure room, etc..
